An RPEQ is a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland — an engineer registered with the Board of Professional Engineers of Queensland (BPEQ) under the Professional Engineers Act 2002 (Qld). Registration is discipline-specific: an RPEQ may only practise in the areas of engineering they are registered in.
If professional engineering services are being carried out in Queensland, or for a project located in Queensland, the law requires the work to be done by an RPEQ or under the direct supervision of one, unless the work follows a fully prescriptive standard that involves no engineering judgement. This applies to interstate and overseas designers producing work for Queensland projects.
