Every commission is delivered and certified by engineers registered in the relevant area of engineering. Certification and direct supervision are arranged before the work starts, so the certifying engineer directs the work rather than checking it at the end.

A Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland is an individual registered with the Board of Professional Engineers of Queensland (BPEQ). Engineering responsibilities must match the relevant area of registration and competence; registration is not a company accreditation.
Professional engineering services in or for Queensland must be provided by an appropriately registered RPEQ or under qualifying direct supervision. Work carried out only under a qualifying prescriptive standard falls outside the statutory definition of professional engineering services. Using an Australian Standard does not automatically make work prescriptive.

Certification is provided by an individual RPEQ after appropriate investigation of the engineering work. Its scope and required form depend on legislation, the client or the receiving authority. A project involving different engineering disciplines may require more than one responsible RPEQ.
No. Direct supervision involves direction, oversight and evaluation while the engineering service is being carried out, together with direct contact and professional responsibility. A check or signature at the end alone does not constitute direct supervision. Establish the required arrangement before the work begins.
The Queensland requirements can apply even when the designer works elsewhere. Engage the appropriate RPEQ early. A later independent review has its own scope; it does not retrospectively establish direct supervision of the original work.
Provide the project location, design purpose, drawings, calculations, supporting reports, applicable conditions and the current design stage. Identify who prepared and reviewed the work and what certification the recipient requires. The scope and fee depend on complexity, available evidence and the investigation needed.
